About

Welcome to St. Martin Parish, located in south-central Louisiana. It has a population of 51,767 (2020 US Census Bureau) and is 739.9 square miles in size. We are the only Parish in Louisiana to have non-contiguous parts. St. Martin Parish is home to several historic and cultural destinations including: Arnaudville, Belle River,  Breaux Bridge, Butte La Rose, Cade, Catahoula, Cecilia, Coteau Holmes, Henderson, Parks, Stephensville and St. Martinville. We are a unique part of America - unlike any other you have ever visited. Come discover a way of life spiced with a blend of historical and cultural ingredients.

Stroll through the historic downtowns of Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville where many unique and quaint shops filled with antiques, local crafts, art and specialty items await you. Enjoy authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine prepared in our many family owned restaurants and cafes. Then dance to a lively Zydeco tune or two-step to Cajun waltz at our dancehalls.

Get back to nature on one of our vast, mysterious waterways. Experience the uniqueness of our Atchafalaya Basin with a swamp tour, take a boat ride in our bayous, or walk along one of our nature trails at Lake Martin where you may see alligators and various species of birds.

If the outdoors and camping are your bag- pack one. Pitch a tent, set up your travel trailer or RV, rent a cabin, or houseboat. Camping and RV facilities are abundant throughout the parish.

When you visit St. Martin Parish, you’ll experience the true essence of Cajun and Creole - where food is almost a religion, where people play just as hard as they work, and where history is alive and well.
